Exhaust Leaks

     One of the problems I’ve encountered with my Model T’s exhaust system is the number of never-ending exhaust leaks in a variety of places.  Recently I spotted a new product produced by Parmatex called “Muffler and Exhaust Pipe Sealant”.  This product, when used properly, will seal an exhaust system and muffler very well, and will eliminate most exhaust leaks.  I used this product where the muffler shells meet the cast ends of the muffler and where the exhaust pipe enters the muffler, both with excellent results.  Gone is the black soot which accumulated under the car and the irritating noise made by the exhaust leak.  This sealer could also be used on exhaust whistles, cut outs and other areas where the tolerances are close but not perfect.  I WOULD NOT use this product on the exhaust nut or the manifold as it might make both difficult, if not impossible, to remove.  But if you want to quiet your T down a little bit, try this out.
